M&J Engineering is actively interviewing for existing and upcoming Port Authority of New York and New Jersey projects
Positions available: Construction Inspectors for PATH and PORTS, JFK, LGA, Newark, Teterboro Airports and New Jersey Marine Terminals, Goethals Bridge and various Port Authority Facilities
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, verbal communication includes contract staff, Resident Engineer, facility staff both in person and via two way communications. Ability to read plans and specs and prepare written contract administration documentation such as daily narratives (work reports), controlled inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work. Identify potential extra work issues and keep Resident Engineer advised of issues. Prepare estimates of extra work. Prepare related sketches and documentation. Review plans for constructability and prepare comments. Review contractor payment requests and recommend reasonableness to the Resident Engineer. Night and weekend shifts may be required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering desired,
10 years’ experience preferred inspecting construction work, varied in size (projects ranging from $200K to $20 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift).
Ability to pass a SWAC Background Check at High Level.
Valid Driver's license required. Night and weekend shifts may be required. Trained in fall protection, confined space and permit required confined space OSHA regulations and 10 hr OSHA construction safety training. NICET Level 4, Bolting, Masonry, Concrete, Asphalt Technology and/or Work Zone Safety Certifications desirable.
