Overview

M&J Engineering, P.C. is seeking a Resident Engineer with a NY PE License and 5-10 years’ experience with at least 5 years of Resident Engineering experience to join our construction management team on construction projects within the NYC Metropolitan Area. Excellent communications and client relations skills with are a must, with the ability to manage a large staff of field personnel and work as a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise inspection staff and Assistant Resident Engineer to complete assignments and delivery of daily inspector reports in accordance with client’s requirements Act as liaison to design staff to respond to Contractors’ RFI's and review of shop drawings.
  • Provides daily on-site construction management and site inspections. Provides technical review of construction plans, specifications, and project changes for constructability and practicality.
  • Manage office staff responsible for record-keeping general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables.
  • Responsible for overall site safety, permit condition compliance, and coordination with other City Agencies.
  • Monitors Contractor performance, schedule, overall responsiveness, and effectiveness. Exerts influence over Contractors to maintain project goals regarding cost, schedule, quality, etc.
  • Assists the Construction Manager in preparing proposals to provide professional services.

Qualifications

  • At least 5+ years of experience as a Resident Engineer on water/wastewater projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or a closely related field.
  • NY Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • NYCDEP experience is a plus
  • Construction Management Association of America Certified Construction Manager (CCM) preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
