M&J Engineering P.C. is seeking an Electrical Inspector to perform comprehensive inspections and prepares inspection reports. Equipment and installations will be inspected for detailed compliance with contract plans, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable local and national electric codes.

• Performs inspections of new and existing wiring and electrical installations for conformance with safety and other requirements 
• Checks plans and specifications to see that electrical work complies with codes and regulations and recommends methods for improvements
• Prepares reports for project managers
• Attends monthly project progress meetings
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specs and prepare written work reports, special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work.
• Monitoring contractor’s work and ensuring it is as per the plans and specifications
• Oversee various electrical work including transformers, switchgear, panelboards, electrical substation, fiber optic communication infrastructure systems, high tension and other electrical work
• Assisting Office Engineer and Resident Engineer as needed

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience performing electrical construction inspections.
• OSHA 30-hour certificate
• Experience working for public infrastructure projects in the New York City Metropolitan area including for MTA-TBTA, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, and PANYNJ is a plus
• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
