Job Description
M&J is currently seeking a Project Manager to oversee construction of a new federal agency building in Maryland.

Responsibilities

  • Attend, and participate in an advisory capacity, in meetings such as preconstruction and pre-performance conferences, quality control coordination meetings, progress meetings, or other conferences and meetings held between the Government’s representatives and construction contractors or service providers.
  • Review construction drawings and construction specifications, document recommendations to resolve construction issues associated with their specific field and provide to the COR for review.
  • Provide review comments on contract submittals pertaining to all contract specification sections, to assure that they conform to the individual specification requirements, document review comments, and recommend government action to be documented and provided to the COR. Monitor the timeliness of all such submittal reviews in order to ensure their completion within the time frames required by the construction contract. Monitor the Contractor’s construction or service submittal log and advise the Government of late or overdue submittals.
  • Prepare weekly status reports with appropriate level of detailed back up and present the reports at regularly scheduled review meeting.


Required Skills & Experience

  • Undergraduate (BS) and/or master’s degree (MS) in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management, or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP), and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) qualification highly preferred.
  • 10-15+ years of related project management experience overseeing large, multimillion dollar construction projects involving mixed-use facilities (e.g., administrative, labs, manufacturing and production, weapons ranges, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience working as an Owner’s Representative, preferably with Federal Clients.
  • Strong knowledge of the A/E and vertical construction industries is required. The ideal candidate will have experience in architecture, engineering, mechanical and electrical systems installation and commissioning, plumbing and fire protection systems, and QA/QC construction inspections.
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes and industry best practices is required.
  • Must be fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to maintain detailed written records of day-to-day activities is critical.
  • Must be able to lead in-progress reviews and other technical meetings, including giving oral and written presentations to VIPs.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced and variable work environment while simultaneously managing multiple task orders at different worksite locations and delivering a superior product.
  • Must be proficient with using basic hand tools, meters, monitoring equipment, and field instrumentation.
