Job Description

M&J Engineering, PC (M&J) is seeking a meticulous Proposal Specialist local to the Washington, DC Metro area who will create compelling marketing materials that support the business development efforts of our Federal, International, State, and Technology (FIST) Group in Arlington, VA. This group delivers engineering design, construction management and inspection services in the Mid-Atlantic Region and is leading the company’s effort for federal and international growth and development. This job role will provide support to the Federal Marketing & Proposal Manager.

 

The ideal candidate will have a passion for design layout and be able to generate professional and aesthetically pleasing content in a deadline driven environment. This person should be an enthusiastic initiative-taker, team-oriented player who is familiar with identifying and preparing competitive federal and state proposals, interview materials and presentations, capability briefs, and responses to sources sought. These efforts include research, customizing resumes and project descriptions, developing themes and strategies, drafting compliance matrices, reviewing, and editing technical write-ups, cover letters and content, coordinating production, and providing QA/QC on the final product to ensure all client submittal and evaluation requirements are achieved.

Responsibilities

The Proposal Specialist’s primary responsibility will be to respond to federal and state government market solicitations by organizing and producing high quality proposals that best represent M&J’s qualifications and experience to potential clients. This position will work as part of a growing tight-knit core team in the region applying proven organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively individually and within local and virtual teams.

 

This role assists the Business Development Team by tracking leads, client information and pipeline pursuits, conducting market research, and representing M&J to subcontractors on data calls during coordination of proposal materials. This is an exciting opportunity for a meticulous marketer to work with industry leaders as we build out our Arlington, VA office.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-3 years of Federal marketing and proposal experience in a professional service field; preferably within architecture, engineering, or construction management related areas.
• BA/BS degree in marketing, communications, business, English, or other related field of study.
• Complete fluency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) software products.
• Exceptional writing, research, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of the Shipley proposal process is desired
• Ability to work effectively in an environment with multiple deadlines and stakeholders, executing and prioritizing tasks efficiently and accurately.
• Strong creative and design ability for proposal packages and deliverables.
• Excellent problem-solving, multitasking, time management, and organizational skills.
• Comfortably operating in a fast-paced team environment, working with an emphasis on attention to detail and quality assurance.
• Strong interpersonal skills and positive, flexible, and professional disposition.
