M&J is seeking a Corporate Safety Manager to be responsible for the management of all safety and security matters during all Project phases including design, construction, start-up, commissioning and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Manage M&J project-level safety personnel across various job sites.
  • Implement and enforce site-specific safety plans in accordance with MTA C&D and TBTA standards.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and audits to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for site personnel.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses; prepare detailed reports and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate safety records, including logs, permits, and inspection reports.
  • Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor and enforce COVID-19 and other health-related protocols as required.
  • Manage procurement and distribution of PPE, including specialized equipment such as fall arrest harnesses.
  • Maintain and update OSHA 300 logs and other required safety documentation.
  • Respond to jobsite incidents, attend related meetings, and compile reports for legal or insurance purposes.
  • Participate in project safety meetings and represent M&J in safety-related discussions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience as a Safety Manager.
  • Experience as the head of safety on at least one MTA C&D transit project and/or an MTA B&T bridge rehabilitation project.
  • Completion of the following certifications and training:
    • 40-hour NYC Department of Buildings Site Safety Manager Course
    • 30-hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health (29 CFR 1926) Course
    • 32-hour OSHA Site Safety Training (SST) for Supervisors
    • 4-hour Supported Scaffold User Course by a NYC DOB Authorized Training School
  • Possession of at least one of the following certifications:
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
    • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
    • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and respond quickly to safety concerns.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $55-$65 per hour
