M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection, ITS, mechanical, electrical, wastewater, water supply, tunnel airport, port, marine/coastal, environmental engineering, and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.

 

M&J Engineering is seeking a highly experienced Senior Program/Project Manager -WMATA to lead and support construction management services (CMS) for Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing WMATA capital programs or direct prior employment at WMATA, with a deep understanding of its operational standards, safety protocols, and stakeholder environment.

This role involves serving as the Owner’s Representative, overseeing complex infrastructure and systems projects, ensuring compliance with WMATA-specific requirements, and delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of WMATA-related construction and maintenance projects.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between M&J Engineering, WMATA, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and documentation in alignment with WMATA protocols.
  • Conduct field inspections to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Review and approve technical specifications, drawings, change orders, and invoices.
  • Maintain detailed records and prepare reports tailored to WMATA’s reporting standards.
  • Supervise field staff and ensure adherence to WMATA’s safety and operational guidelines.
  • Coordinate with WMATA departments including Capital Delivery, Safety, and Operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
  • P.E. license preferred
  • 10–15+ years of construction project management experience, with significant experience on WMATA projects.
  • Prior employment at WMATA or direct collaboration with WMATA teams is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of WMATA’s project delivery processes, safety standards, and documentation protocols.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and structural systems in transit environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across various WMATA facilities.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must pass background screening.
  • Ability to work on active construction sites and in variable environmental conditions.

Compensation:

  • Salary Range: $150,000 – $200,000 annually
