M&J Engineering, P.C. is seeking a qualified Nighttime Paving Inspector with NETTCP HMA Paving Certification to support ongoing roadway construction projects in East Windsor, CT. This field-based role is essential for ensuring quality assurance and compliance during nighttime paving operations under CTDOT oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and approve paving operations during nighttime shifts to ensure compliance with CTDOT specifications and NETTCP standards.
  • Monitor contractor activities including material placement, compaction, and temperature control.
  • Document daily work progress, inspection findings, and non-conformance issues.
  • Perform field measurements and verify pay quantities.
  • Coordinate with Resident Engineers, contractors, and utility representatives to resolve field issues.
  • Ensure adherence to traffic control, environmental, and safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • NETTCP HMA Paving Certification (must be valid and recognized by CTDOT)
  • Minimum 2 years of field inspection experience on civil construction projects
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to work night shifts and in varied weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Experience with CTDOT projects or local municipal roadway work
  • Familiarity with AASHTOWare and COMPASS systems
  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety and Health certification
  • Additional NETTCP certifications (Concrete, Soils & Aggregate)
