M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection, ITS, mechanical, electrical, wastewater, water supply, tunnel airport, port, marine/coastal, environmental engineering, and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.

 

The Project Controls Engineer will be responsible for providing administrative, financial, and technical support activities for Joint and Adjacent Construction projects. The Project Controls Engineer will perform varied administrative office functions, maintain project records, contract documentation, and financial reports, as well as monitor labor expenditures and assist with cost control efforts. The Project Controls Engineer will work under the direction of the Project Manager(s).

Responsibilities

  • Maintains full familiarity with the JDAC Adjacent Construction Project Manual (ACPM), JDAC Procedures, and current safety regulations relative to assigned projects to be knowledgeable of the contractor's obligations and Project Manager's responsibilities;
  • Monitors the JDAC email box for public inquiries, acknowledges receipt, and efficiently routes inquiries to JDAC construction engineers for impact evaluation and team assignment;
  • Establishes, organizes, and maintains project records and documentation for all public inquiries, following the guidelines outlined in the Project Implementation Manual to ensure compliance and accessibility;
  • Updates and manages project-related data in Procore, including direct input of project related information and uploading of relevant supporting documents;
  • Generates and analyzes bi-weekly labor reports, collaborating with Project Managers to identify and address any unauthorized labor charges to maintain budget integrity;
  • Prepares monthly expenditure reports for assigned JDAC projects and compiles monthly balance reports for overall JDAC program tracking;
  • Coordinates with project teams and WMATA Accounting to facilitate invoice submissions, refund payments, and other financial transactions, ensuring timely and accurate processing;
  • Assists JDAC Construction Engineers in developing cost estimates and financial forecasts, supporting effective budgeting and cost control efforts;
  • Serves as a financial resource for all JDAC project teams, providing accurate and timely financial data to support decision-making and project oversight;
  • Submits daily logs in a timely manner through WMATA’s Procore system; and
  • Performs other project related duties as assigned by WMATA’s Task Manager.

Qualifications


• A minimum of five (5) years of work experience in a related field, preferably in the transportation industry;
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field;
• Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced engineering environment; and
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365®, Oracle PeopleSoft® and Procore.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent verbal/written communication skills, and strong technical writing skills

 

Salary Range: $100-$125k
