M&J is seeking a Senior Engineer and Architect to provide analytical, data – driven insights to improve operational performance, financial efficiency, and strategic decision – making across key business areas.

Salary:

Salary is commensurate with experience, ranging from $180,000 to $220,000 anually.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ADA compliance reviews of engineering and architectural designs for multiple projects occurring at same time.
  • Specifically attest to whether the review of engineering and architectural designs meet all ADA Title II and Title III standards and guidelines.
  • Where designs do not meet ADA standards, state specifically why the design does not meet the standards.
  • Understand and apply WMATA standards that may exceed ADA standards to engineering design reviews.
  • Upon completing an engineering design review, submit and document recommendations that would enhance the accessibility of the designs.
  • Perform field visits to review and/or validate ADA compliance as required.
  • Attend required in-person meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or architecture.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in accessible design and ADA compliance design review.
  • Experience in the review of civil engineering and architectural drawings and calculations to determine whether proposed drawings, designs, and/or site plans are fully compliant with the ADA Standards for Transportation and comply with the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA).
  • Experience in providing design solutions for transportation facilities.
  • Experience reviewing raised lettering and braille tactile signage for ADA compliance.
  • Experience performing ADA substantial completion inspections for facilities and provide compliance comments/punch-lists with references to ADA Standards as appropriate to facilitate resolution.
  • Experience participating in the design development and transit equipment design review workshops.
  • Experience in Areas of Refuge design, communication systems, and onsite verification.
  • Proficiency communicating findings and resolutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365® and Adobe Acrobat®.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• AutoCAD® drawing experience.
• Master’s degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or architecture.
